Meet Our Staff

Our Doctor:

Dr. Bobby Cox is a 1975 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up in a family of animal lovers. All during his childhood he had contact with dogs, horses and cattle. Dr. Cox had an interest in medicine that he acquired from his father who was an MD. His decision to become a veterinarian allowed him to combine his interest in medicine with his love for animals.

Dr. Cox and his wife, Lisa, moved to Fannin County in 1978 and bought a practice in Wolfe City, Tx. In 1998 they opened a second veterinary clinic in Leonard, Texas. Leonard Animal Clinic quickly became the busier practice. The decision was made in 2004 to close the Wolfe City practice and focus on Leonard Animal Clinic. At that time, the facility in Leonard was enlarged and upgraded to provide for complete veterinary service for both small and large animals.

The Cox's have two sons, Robby and Cody, plus four grandchildren. They live on the family farm in Ladonia. Dr. Cox's professional interests include continuing education, internal medicine, and medical imaging. In his spare time, he enjoys family and friends, fishing, traveling and riding his Harley.

Office Manager:

Lisa has been the office manager since the clinic opened. She does a truly wonderful job at getting the payroll out every week, paying the bills and keeping the peace. She loves her dogs and cats. Lisa has been active for many years in the Wolfe City First United Methodist Church and the Wolfe City Public Library. She also loves spending time with her grandchildren. Her biggst job however is keeping Dr. Cox in line.

Receptionist and Inventory Control Manager:

Brenda Scott started her association with Dr. Cox seventeen years ago as a veterinary technician at the Wolfe City office. As the years have gone by Brenda has filled every position in the clinics. She is well know in the community and has been active in local organizations. Brenda is an animal lover extraordinaire. She has dogs, cats and horses of her own. She has been a great asset to our clinics for years. If you really need something now Brenda is the go to person.

Veterinary Technician:

Tish Johnson has been with Leonard Animal Clinic for eight years. She has a deep love for all animals. She is passionate about their wellbeing. She is a real animal advocate. Tish serves as kennel superintendent, vet tech, lab tech and occasionally fills in as receptionist. She always has a smile on her face and is ready to jump in and help where ever she is needed. Rest assured that if your animal has to stay overnight at the clinic that Tish will see that it gets plenty of TLC.

Veterinay Technician:

Cal Ross has been a part of the team for eleven years. Cal came to our clinic after retiring from a carrier in the manufacturing business. He has been involved in the horse and cattle industry but his true love ( beside his wonderful wife Sue) are his two Yorkies, LuLu and Annie. His duties at the clinic include general veterinary technician, surgery tech and manager of large animal procedures. Cal's special duties are chief motorcycle mechanic and riding partner with Dr. Cox. He gets great pleasure from making all the clients and their animals feel at home during their visits to the clinic. We are very lucky to have him.

Kennel Technician:

Phyliss is new to our clinic but is a long time Leonard resident. She serves as our weekend kennel technician. If you have to pickup your pet after regular clinic hours you will probably be dealing with Phyliss.
