Boarding Policy

Thank you for choosing our Clinic, where we strive to maintain a sanitary and healthy environment, to board your pet. We provide quality boarding and give each pet individual love and attention during their stay with us. While staying with us, your pet will be under the supervision of our Animal Kennel Technicians.

Vaccinations:

  • Dogs: DA2LPPV, Rabies, and Bordetella
  • Cats: FVRCP, and rabies

All pets must be current on their vaccinations, and it is the owner’s responsibility to make sure that proof of current vaccines is on file with the hospital at the time of admission. If vaccinations have been administered at another veterinary hospital and they are closed at the time of admission and proof of those vaccinations is not on file, the vaccinations will be brought current at the time of admission and the client will be charged accordingly.

Leash: For the safety of all, pets are required to always be on a leash and under control (or in a carrier) when in the custody of their owners and while in the lobby or check-in area.

Internal/External Parasites: All pets must be free of internal and external parasites (worms, fleas, and ticks). A current negative fecal test must be on file, or a test will be performed at the time of boarding. If any parasites are found, the pet will be treated accordingly. All treatments will be charged to the client at regular rates.

Medical Attention: Leonard Animal Clinic makes every effort to provide a safe, stress-free experience for your pet. Some pets react differently to new environments and separation from owners, and there is even some risk that pets in the same family may engage in rough play and injure one another when lodging together. In non-emergency situations (e.g., continued diarrhea, loss of appetite), Leonard Animal Clinic will contact the owner or owner’s designee to discuss recommended protocol. For emergencies in which urgent care or medical treatment appears needed, Leonard Animal Clinic will perform the necessary procedure and then attempt to contact the owner. Any costs arising from medical care will be billed to the owner upon check-out. 

Personal Items: Each pet is allowed one small blanket or towel and up to three toys in their enclosure. Other items that can be brought and stored: leashes and collars, owner’s dog food, and a small wire crate if desired. Items that cannot be brought, food bowls, crates that obstruct the view of the pet, large furniture items, or extra toys. Other items are at the sole discretion of management. We appreciate your cooperation as we do not have room to store extra belongings.

  • All items must be clearly marked with your pet’s name. Although Leonard Animal Clinic will do our best to return items to you, we cannot be responsible for any items left with your pet and cannot guarantee they will be returned in the same condition as brought in due to sanitation procedures. For safety reasons, bones, tennis balls, rawhides, and any items easily swallowed are also not allowed. 
  • Toys: A maximum of 3 toys are allowed per pet. Please understand that Leonard Animal Clinic cannot be responsible for any item left with your pet and cannot guarantee they will be returned in the same condition. There is a risk of misplacing these items due to daily sanitizing and laundry procedures. Please do not bring favorite toys that may be lost. 

Rates and Payments: Other services provided to your pet during boarding are charged at regular cost. Payment in full is expected when your pet is discharged. A deposit may be required for first-time clients and/or extended boarding. Boarding is charged by the number of nights stayed and charges are updated at closing time. Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check, credit card, or Scratch Pay. Should Scratch Pay be required, it must be approved before any procedures are performed.

Abandoned Pet: Please notify Leonard Animal Clinic if there is a change in your scheduled pick-up date. If you fail to check out your pet on the scheduled pick-up date without making prior arrangements, Leonard Animal Clinic will send a Notice of Intent to Consider the Pet Abandoned. If we do not hear from you or are unable to contact you for a period of fourteen (14) days following the mailing of such notice, Leonard Animal Clinic will consider your pet abandoned. You agree that you have relinquished ownership rights to your pet(s) to Leonard Animal Clinic and we may dispose of or place the pet(s) as feasible. You agree and acknowledge that there are no guarantees made by Leonard Animal Clinic that abandoned pets will be rehomed. Leonard Animal Clinic will no longer be responsible for the care of your pet. The credit card on file will be charged for the full remaining balance. If the full balance cannot be collected, recurring payments will be set up until the balance is collected in full. Any balance left unpaid will be owed to Leonard Animal Clinic and will be collected through legal means, if necessary. If a suit must be filed by Leonard Animal Clinic for nonpayment of boarding fees, you acknowledge and agree that this will be considered a breach of contract and you will reimburse Leonard Animal Clinic for attorney fees, costs of court, case expenses, and pre-judgment and post-judgment interest at the maximum legal rate. Leonard Animal Clinic will comply with all relevant Texas state laws regarding abandoned pets.
